'Alchemy of a River'
stoneware ceramic with glaze
50 x 30 x 30 cm, 2025

This hand-built stoneware vessel is an alchemic synthesis of glaze and clay. With layering multiple glazes and numerous firings, it is a fusion of the painterly mark and the ceramic form. Echoing ancient forms of antiquity, the vessel holds and contains. Its surface revealing a passage of time, a palimpsest of obscured and inscribed markings suggesting a text, a language to be understood or deciphered. Acknowledging the need to understand the river in order to preserve and work with this essential life force. It is a symbolic representation of the river, a source of fertility, renewal and destruction.
